Organisations and Unions
Equity
I think we all know what this one does. Seriously though folks, support your union!
Casting Directors' Guild
This site is fairly basic, but most importantly, gives a listing of all it's members, and what their most recent productions were. Very very handy.....
Stuntnet
Wanna be a Stunt Man? Think you're tough enough? Well turn your collar up and go here!
PACT
Founded in 1991, Pact is the UK trade association that represents and promotes the commercial interests of independent feature film, television, animation and interactive media companies. That's what they say anyway...... Very useful for links to the regional ITV companies etc (click on 'resources' then 'links').
The Actor's Centre
Based in central London, a meeting point and training centre for actors. The website has now been fully updated, and gives you all sorts of information on upcoming classes etc. Well worth a look.
Performing Rights Society
If you want to perform music at an unlicensed venue, then you have to get a license from PRS - otherwise they'll come and get you...... However, their site is pretty good!
The British Phonographic Industry
The organisation responsible for making sure you lot don't download all your music from the internet, thus depriving the impoverished record industry of their rightful dues...... Mind you, they had enough spare cash to come up with a really good site!
BAFTA

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts is now best known for it's annual awards ceremonies for Film and TV, the Film awards especially being seen these days as a precursor to the Oscars.

Quite a nice site, not particularly exhaustive, and won't particularly help in the job search. Worth an amble round if you've got 10 minutes to spare though, especially if you've forgotten who exactly won the award for best make up and hair last year.

Academy of Television Arts and Sciences
Better known as the Emmy's, America's annual small-screen awards fest. Again, you're not really going to learn much that is crucial here, although it does have a good links page to the other American Guilds.
Northern Actors Centre
This is the place to go if you're based in the North West of England. Nice site with info on forthcoming workshops and job opportunities. Located in Manchester, well worth joining if you're in the area.
Actors Centre North East
An excellent site, with lots of information for actors based in the North East, including a simple but well thought out actor database. Details of upcoming workshops, links, castings (only if you're a member) and lots more info. Located in Newcastle.
Royal Television Society
Decent site, lots of archive areas, but some of these you can only access if you're a member. Also fronts the RTS awards, which are held every March in central London, although to be honest, you can't find alot of detail on these.

What is interesting are the full transcripts available on-line of previous speeches given by various luminaries such as Greg Dyke, Dawn Airey etc. Worth half an hour of anybody's time.

Skillset
A govermnment sponsored web-site, which gives you lots of information on breaking into film and TV making etc. It is aimed more at behind the camera jobs, but there is some stuff for actors in there too. Worth a look.
Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences
Or better known as the Oscars of course. Pretty good site, with lots of stuff on the history of the Oscars etc. Also a link to Oscar.com, which focuses specifically on the current year's awards ceremony, and is extremely slick with lots of downloadable clips etc (so long as you're on broad band).

You're not exactly going to get any work out of this site, but you could spend a quiet afternoon having a good old delve into everything that it offers.

Tony Awards
The American Theatre Wing's Tony Awards® are presented by Tony Award Productions, a joint venture of The League of American Theatres and Producers, Inc. and the American Theatre Wing. The two organizations have jointly administered the Tonys since 1967, the year of the first Tony telecast. Responsibility for the governance and administration of the awards is vested in two committees:

The Tony Awards Management Committee is made up of representatives of the League and the Wing. It oversees the Tony Awards, with emphasis on the television broadcast.

The Tony Awards Administration Committee is comprised of 24 members, of whom 10 are designated by the Wing, 10 by the League, and one each by the Dramatists Guild, Actors' Equity Association, United Scenic Artists, and the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers. This committee determines eligibility for nominations in all awards categories, reviews the rules governing the awards, and appoints the Nominating Committee. It may, at its discretion, give special Tony Awards, the Regional Theatre Tony Award, and Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre.

Phew, you learn something new every day. Anyway, great site, with lots of videos and other bits to keep you happy. And if you want a sneak preview of Spamalot then this is the place to come.
